1920s Apartment Building Renovation, Seattle, WA
Scandia Mignon Apartments, Capital Hill, Seattle, WA
The Scandia Mignon is a 3-story, 30-unit apartment building built in the 1920s. It is located in the heart of Seattle’s popular Capital Hill neighborhood and within walking distance of light rail and popular restaurants and shops. We encountered and overcame many challenges to mesh the new with the old.

Apartment Building Exterior Renovations
New paint, awnings, and sidewalk work made the Scandia look decades younger. We completed extensive envelope work, including installing a new roof, new energy-efficient windows, and new paint.
Apartment Building Interior Renovations
We repaired plumbing and cabinets in selected units.
Property Renovations and Upgrades
We removed trees, completed extensive sidewalk repairs and masonry tuckpointing, and planted new trees. Because of the amount of foot traffic in the neighborhood, pedestrian safety was paramount when removing trees and completing the sidewalk repairs. We also replaced a fence and repaired the dumpster enclosure.
Front Door Upgrade
We transformed the front entryway with a new door, paint, sidewalk repairs, and a colorful, crisp awning emblazoned with the building’s name.
